It's Thursday of Turpitude! And once again I have something to loath and moan about.
Now as we all know. Teenagers are probably the most opinionated people on the planet. I can say it. I am one. I know. I have seen it! Also I'm a prime example.
Anyway. Teenagers like to have an opinion on anything. Especially in religious studies. They will contradict the teacher or ask strange questions to confuse her. Now what I don't understand then. If they can have such strong opinions about religion why don't they try understand it more? Listen to what they are being told and develop an actual opinion with experience under its belt.
If teenagers listened to what the teacher taught them they might learn something they didn't expect. They might begin to dis-/believe. Which is their choice and they would have a reason to agree with themselves other than.
"My parents hammered this opinion into me at an early age."
Like it or not at this age that's more likely than them developing an opinion on their own because that is how it all starts on both sides.
It seems a pubescent tradition to have on opinion without knowing the facts but that shouldn't mean it has to be. What I don't get is why no one seems to bother with this one subject. We have a nice and friendly teacher whom is very -too much if you ask me- forgiving and is very well versed in the subject she teaches. If everyone just got on with the work and tasks the lesson would go by much faster and would be more enjoyable.
But instead it seems it is more appropriate to slam on the desk with your blundering hands of no future. Or ask strange questions that may even offend the teacher. Or just sit in a group and completely ignore the teacher and treat her like a waitress at a restaurant.
Religious studies is probably one of the most interesting subjects because it is all down to your own interpretation. If you don't agree with something you can question it and learn even more. You can take ideas that you believe in from multiple religions that give you peace of mind and create your own religion in your head. Sounds rather strange but people do it. They don't name it and make a building for it subsequently then forcing their views into the minds of small children. They just keep themselves happy until they lay their head to the ground or teach their children these ideals to live by.
So this is a message to all teenagers out their that sit in R.S/R.E and giggle, laugh and mess around. Grow the fuck up and get some work done. You want an opinion people will respect? You have to learn about the subject first.

I just hate life that is stupid.

I have to say, I'm looking forward to next term when I no longer have to do religious studies.
ReplyDeleteIt annoys me how they generalise Christianity and Islam so much, when in fact, all the denominations have very little in common. You seem to learn very little about religion, they should really rename it, "Modern Issues" or something.
